I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for dealing with what I believe is a hemorrhoid. I have a hard lump beneath the skin in the 3 o'clock position that is becoming moderately painful. I have dealt with abscesses before and I don't believe that is what this is since this is oblong and narrow.
Since it is relatively deep beneath the skin, I don't believe topicals like preparation H will be much help, although I am trying anyway. I want to get ahead of this, if I can, before it becomes much worse. What's the best way to deal with these things?

Sitz baths (contraption thingie that sits in the toilet), topical steroid (and if you are in Canada, ask for Proctocedyl)and suppositories (Proctocedyl)
Is it right on the anus or beside?

Thanks for the info. It is just to the inside of where a doctor would be able to see with the naked eye.
