Flaring for a year Advice on meds Needed

I'm still doing asacol 800hd 6 daily, 1 meslamine enema nightly, and started l-glutamine, and vsl#3 today.

Well I woke up with night sweats and my stomach ached all through the middle where on asacol it wasn't, so I'm back on asacol 800hd. He said try to stay on the asacol 6 tabs a day and night enemas for 3 months see if I improve if I get worse we do the pred. I'm just wondering what the side effects of 20mg pred would be, or is it higher up in dose before you start seeing the effects?
