Cramps

So I’m pretty deep in remission and I’m so happy about it: I pass stool 1-3 times a day and since adding some dietary changes to my medical regime they’re pretty consistently solid too. Gas is minimal and everything else is mostly fine...

...except that I get cramps. They’re mostly on the lower right side (like I’d guess the cecum area) though occasionally they move. They’re not enjoyable though they are minor pains (can function through them) and they’re intermittent. Is this normal for remission? The location is kind of strange for colitis...


Just fyi: I was diagnosed this last Spring and am going to be getting another colonoscopy to check my progress in the next few months.

We can get various cramps and pains due to trapped gas or trapped/impacted stool within our intestines.

The lower abdomen is jam packed with potential pain causers that might not be UC-related. The gallbladder and pancreas are on the right side and could be potential pain causers (gallstones, and we're more prone to pancreatitis). Kidney stones are possible (another right-side thing). Women can have various uterine pains and complications that an OBGYN could investigate.

Any chance the pain is coming from where your spine meets your hip? We are much more prone to getting joint pains as an extra-intestinal-complication of having an UC.

Have you had any prior abdominal surgeries? Those who've had surgeries can have pains from adhesions and scar tissue from them.
