Have a bit more than proctitis, but I legit have been eating so much food lately because I am always so hungry from the low-fiber diet. No more D and very little, if any blood, at the moment as I hopefully work my way towards remission, yet I am gaining nothing, and even lost a few pounds. Normally, I would have gained SO much weight eating this way.
I talked to the MD, and she said what Connor said --our bodies are just using a lot more energy to heal and food goes through us a bit faster when we're inflamed, so we don't absorb as much. You might just need to eat small, frequent meals and more than you usually need to maintain your weight. I personally can stand to lose about 35lbs, so we're not too worried, and I am just to watch and make sure it's no more than 2lbs a week, and that I try to get in as much good nutrition in every time I eat.
