You are usually admitted to get cyclosporine. it has a lot of potential, the problem is that it's similar to steroids, works while you're on it, and maybe for a short period after, than you're back to square one. You need a maintenance medication.
I don't like comparing anything to Steroids, I understand your point that just like steroids you can't stay on them longterm. Steroids are infamous for their side effects, Program and Cyclosporine have much different side effects. I only had some minor side effects from Cyclosporine; hair growth and very minimal hand tremors.
My GI has been using Cyclosporine for decades and has never had a bad reaction.
The thing with both Prograf and Cyclosporine is that you'll within a few days if it is going to work for you or not.
