Hi all,
Every few months I get a very severe, debilitating pain in my stomach that also causes rectal cramping. The pain lasts for hours and leaves me sore the next day, and it usually sends me to the ER because of the severity.
The official diagnosis was bursting ovarian cysts, but my GP is now concerned that the pain I experience is UC related, which makes sense considering the rectal pain.
They're organising a set of scopes to have a look but until then it's just speculation.

My question, though, is does anyone get this type of pain during a flare/experienced pain like this before?

Is it constant or intermittent and is it stabbing or a dull ache?

It's a constant sharp pain that has stabs of very sharp pain every now and again.

Intense pains that lead you to the ER makes me think of Pancreatitis, something we are more prone to as UC patients. Did they check your Pancreatitis at the ER? What did they test for?

Kidney stones (intense pain) and gall stones are also possible.

Rectal spasms can be painful and might require prescription antispasmatic medications.

I've experienced sharp, knife-stabbing pains at the apex of my worst UC flare (25+ bms a day). Unless you're flaring badly then I wouldn't expect this to the the cause.

Trapped gas and or stool can cause mild/moderate discomfort.
