The semi-sessile polyp shouldn't be of any concern. That is just the shape (slightly flattened).

Hope your inflammation stays mild. I think you will get it under control.

Songlady had a sessile polyp and it was pretty serious. I recommend that you at least get very frequent monitoring. For her, it was very serious, but I don't think it always is. Honestly, in my case, surgery has been a small inconvenience. Some people might think of it as the end of the world, but what it's been for me, is, I might go to the bathroom once when I am out and about. It's much better than dealing with some of the possible alternatives. her's was not 'semi', whatever that means. please be careful and keep monitoring often. I just want you to be okay.

Polyps are very common, particularly as we age.
Inflammatory polyps, caused by UC or crohns, do not become cancerous.

Polyps have two main shapes, sessile and pedunculated (flat, or hanging.)
The shape is descriptive only. It does not indicate whether there is any other issue.

Polyps can further be described as neoplastic or non-neoplastic.
Neoplastic polyps have a small chance of becoming cancerous. They can be serrated, or adenomatous.

So if a polyp is only identified only as sessile (without any other descriptive term) it is highly unlikely that it was considered to be an issue.
However if a sessile polyp is also serrated, or adenomatous, then that would be noted and cause for follow up (usually within 3 years.)

Not so good quite honestly. I've been losing a lot of blood. They said they found a benign hyperplastic polyp and I don't know what that means.

I am sorry to hear that. Are you taking the uceris? What are the options? You could try a biologic...

Benign is good. You should call and ask for more details.

It's benign (non-cancerous) so no worries!

Nearly 90% of all colon polyps are hyperplastic polyps, which are usually harmless.

Where was it found?

It's involved with inflammation.....one or a few is different than an area packed with them.

It was in the descending colon. The inflammation was only up to the sigmoid. It was just one.

I wouldn't worry too much about the polyp at the moment. it sounds like those are quite common and benign. I am more concerned with you getting better. What is the plan?

Today I felt weird all day and I felt cold. It snowed last night. I just grabbed a thermometer on a hunch and it showed 101.1. It wasn't the cold weather but I'm having an elevated temp. I don't know if I should take acetaminophen or not.

I suspect the doc doesn't actually look for it since a fissure is on the anus, usually in the folds and external.
Have you looked yourself?

I had my husband looking but he didn't see anything on the outside. They said that there could be some fissures right in the inside of the anal canal and they gave me some ointment.

Nitroglycerin and lidocaine. Had to get it at a Compounding pharmacy. I'm also on hydrocortisone enemas btw

Hope it works.....lubricate the enema nozzle before inserting.

It's usually lubricated but sometimes I put more. Still having the fever. I took some acetaminophen to lower it a little.

101 is definitely something.
