Hi Everyone,
I finally got into John Hopkins. I am meeting with a great surgeon on Monday to review all of my pathology, procedures and medical records with him and his team. My parents are coming as well. I have been in a flare for the past two months. I had a severe reaction to Humira. I have been rushed to the er 3 times in the past two weeks.
I am finally going to take the surgery plunge. I hope that I can get the surgery that allows me to get just a portion of my colon removed or small intestine refashioned into my colon. I do not want to have a colostomy bag for the rest of my life as I am a swimmer. That is my main hobby.
Can anyone provide me some guidance, knowledge and support on surgery options? I have read throughout this amazing platform. I know there are a lot of different surgery options. I just do not know how severe my UC is and how the stages (or makeup) of your UC diagnosis compares to what surgery options you have. Listed below is my current medical condition. I am also taking all of my own food and cleaning supplies with me to the hotel.
Severe UC that is descending and in my rectum as well.
Started off with C. Diff infection
Had colon/rectal surgery to remove a couple of condylomas and one exterior papiloma along with several polyps in December.
Currently the only UC meds that I am on are Lialda 4.6 mg per day.
Current condition, major flare, intensely gassy, eating only one meal per day (very small portions). It is chicken and mashed potatoes. If I have a snack it is half a Larabar or a half of a banana. I only drink water and sometimes %100 pure apple juice watered down. I have lost 50 pounds. I am 6 foot and I weigh 190 lbs.
Thank you so much for everything in advance.
