In my experience slippery elm powder made into a porridge is a very effective way to keep flares from getting too severe. As a mucilage slippery elm coats the system and soothes and it tastes halfway decent and is not expensive. On the non SCD track, I also like to cook a large pot of white rice in a lot of water, then dump it in a good blender, adding sea salt and a tablespoon of coconut oil and blend thoroughly to make homemade cream of rice. I find it very soothing. I do the same thing with veggies I tolerate well. I boil them soft, throw in a chicken breast at the end, and blend it with sea salt and oil again. It tastes very good and it is easy to digest. I throw in a little slippery elm powder in with these liquid meals and try to eat 4-6 times a day when flaring. Another food item I recommend if you can find it are Japanese Sweet potatoes. They are delicious, have a great texture and I think they are better tolerated than other potatoes for those with food sensitivities.
