Hey all,
Long time stalker. Especially last summer when my wife had her most severe flare up to date where she went to the ER twice and was put in observation. I learned a lot about
UC from this forum and am grateful for all the info. I wanted to share our success story with cannabis and post a recipe for you all to try.
First a little background on my wife's UC condition:
Diagnosed with UC in 2015. Started taking mesalamine (oral and enema) but eventually became ineffective. She started having semi bloody stools on and off for many months starting spring 2017. I read that VSL#3 could help, but I let her take too much in the beginning, and this caused her to have the worst flare ever. 10+ times a day in the bathroom with bloody diarrhea, high fever, excruciating pain, weight loss, etc. This is when she was hospitalized and the doctor gave her tramadol (opiate painkiller) and uceris. The uceris didn't work, instead it made her joints swell to a point where she could barely stand.
This is the point where I read about
cannabis and started giving her joints to smoke. This didn't have much effect as the flare was still raging on, but it seemed to make the pain better. I then made cannabis infused extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and put them in capsules, thinking that perhaps if she was to ingest the active ingredients it would be better. Besides, I could not find the therapeutic high-CBD flower on the streets, so making cannabis oil means I can add CBD extract into the oil. Also, extra virgin olive oil is an anti-inflammatory in itself. Indeed, the day she took the cannabis oil she started farting, she didn't fart in over a month. This was definitely a good sign. Over the next 6 weeks she took 12 capsules a day and fully recovered from her flare. She stopped taking uceris the first or second week of starting the cannabis oil since she took it for about
a month and caused the aforementioned side effects. We didn't change anything with her diet.
At the height of her severe flare, she was taking Asacol HD 800mg, Rowasa enema, Tramadol for painkiller, Uceris. Now she takes 3ml of the cannabis oil and has stopped all prescript
ion drugs except the asacol HD 800mg, which she has cut her dosage down to half (8 pill a day to 4) and is getting fatter, healthier and stronger everyday
.
After the 6 week period of heavily taking the cannabis oil, she had some minor relapse where she started to see signs of a flare coming. Whenever this happens she reverts back to a 9ml or 12ml a day regimen with the cannabis oil, combined with imodium. Usually the next day her stools are normal and formed. I have read that imodium doesn't work for many of you but perhaps combined with cannabis oil it may be different. Imodium + cannabis oil synergizes greatly for my wife. There was also a period of time where she took melatonin because she couldn't sleep well. So imodium + cannabis oil + melatonin + asacol + rowasa.
What we have learned is that when the cannabis oil is ingested, and you feel a fuzzy/itchy feeling at the point of inflammation, that means the cannabis oil is working. My understanding is that the
location where the inflammation is located (left side for my wife) is where the most CB2 receptors are located. So when the cannabis oil is ingested, it then binds enmasse onto those CB2 receptors at the inflammation site, which causes the fuzzy itchy feeling. After eating the cannabis oil, my wife frequently reported that she felt this fuzzy itchy feeling at the exact sites where she felt extreme pain during the flare.
I hope you guys will try this as it has pretty much saved my wife's life. She is not tolerant of toxic medication and to think that uceris put her in a wheelchair, I cannot fathom what harder meds like prednisone would've done to her. There was also talk from the GI doctor to put her on imuran or some other crazy immunosuppressants. I wanted to share this with you all in hopes that you will try this recipe. Keep in mind it takes some time to completely get off of the flare, my wife took 6 weeks but I was planning for 3 months. That kid Coltyn Turner that cured his Crohn's did 3 months and I was actually modeling the dosage after what his dad was giving him. But after 6 weeks of being high all day my wife didn't want to take any more capsules, so she only took 3ml at night.
Let me know if you guys have any questions. I hope this recipe will calm your inflammation!
