I had a total colostomy about 5 1/2 years ago. Occasionally I get this super burning in my butt. I do not have an ileostomy. However in the past 2 weeks have I developed this burning pooping razor blades when having a BM. I have tried vaseline, 40% zinc oxide, and numerous other hemorrhoid treatments and nothig seems to work. Even tried straight aloe vera. Anybody else have this problem. Anyone else ever experience this? and if you did did you find anything to get some relief??

When was your last scope? I think that I would give my GI and ColoRectal surgeon a call to have it looked at. I am unsure what you were diagnosed with, if you are on any meds...

I have a colostomy. I sometimes have pressure from the mucus, but nothing like what you are describing.

Both my doctors said that if I felt pain in my back end area to call them and to get in right a way.

I had a scope last November I think and dr also removed a hemorrhoid. I take no meds for ulcerative colitis which was reason for total colectomy. I do take meds for high blood pressure and high cholsteral, vittamins, calcium, vitamin D, montelukast, depression. First available appointment is 23rd of this month.

Are you passing mucus from your back end? Is that when you feel burning butt...or when do you feel it and What happens before and after? How often do you feel it daily? What color is the mucus? Do you feel any other pain, cramping or urgency?

I was diagnosed with UC and Crohns was added later... The only time I had internal burning butt was when I had fissures or ulcers. The only thing that helped with this was keeping a food journal, avoiding foods that set it off, taking medication (Remicade and methotrexate) and taking looking hot baths.


When I feel an external burning butt (skin on the bottom and lady bits) I use calmoseptine.

If you are experiencing this something is not right. I would try to get in asap.

No mucous, burning is when BM/diarrhea. Is calmoseptine a prescription drug? Dr said I had some condition and gave me a paper on it but I can't put my hands on it right now. Directions were to apply diaper rash cream so I use 40% zinc oxide and then apply baby powder with cornstarch. Doesn't really help much. I have tried about every diaper rash cream out there but it doesn't help. When he did the scope and removed my hemorrhoid I would think he would of found a fissure or ulcer then as I had this then too.

Debee, it's an OTC product. You should be able to find it in any drug store & it's also available on Amazon from what I am seeing.

Calmoseptine is zinc oxide 20% with menthol. If you want to ask for a prescription drug you can ask for Questran to help absorb some of the acid in your bowels. Also look at a skin barrier called ILEX, which actually dries as a barrier on your skin, not like a cream.
