Is it necessary? No, you only need to do what you want to do.
Might it help? Possible, but that's entirely up to you regarding whether you might get something out of it. What do you think? Might it help or would it be a gigantic waste of time? Sometimes we can handle the anxieties on our own and it's great when we can. Other times a helping hand and someone who'll listen and offer suggestions is helpful. It depends on what you want to do, and how bad the fears/anxieties are. Do you feel like you're able to control them yourself?, if so great then do, if not then ask for a hand. It's all a matter of degree and what you think is right.
We're all anxious and have health anxieties to varying degrees. UC is good for making us worry (accidents, urgency, uncertainty about the future). I know we all tend to look after each bm, like a fortune teller trying to read the future as one example. Easy to do, and we've all done it. That act can drive up anxieties. Better to flush while still sitting, rather than look first. Frequency of bms and urgency are often enough to judge a flare without hyper-analyzing each and every bm (many false alarms by looking each time).
Sometimes anti-anxiety medications help us when we need some help.
