Shire brand generic is the same pill as Lialda, it isn't much cheaper, but worth a try.

Lialda discontinued their copay assistance card program, and the cost at the counter can be a lot higher as a consequence thereof for the brandnamed lialda.

s476 is the pill code for brand-named Lialda. Insurance bills as brandnamed.

s476 is the pill code for the Shire-licensed generic of lialda (shire makes both the brandnamed and licensed-generic). Insurance companies sometimes call these generics, and sometimes call them brandnamed drugs, as both are made by the same company and there is often no/little difference in price. Hit or miss on how your insurance bills it.

711 is the pill code for the lialda-generic made by Zydus pharmaceuticals. This is a true generic under insurance plans, but it also only shares the dosage and once a day application with Lialda. Different delayed-release-coating.

Check with your insurance company on the difference in copay if you get 90 day supply versus 30 day. For my son, a 90 day supply of lialda has an $80 copay total. For a 30 day supply the copay is $240. Makes no sense but that’s how it is.

ok so i found some generic Lialda, code on the tablet is s476, they didn't have the full amount and they are ordering it for me, come in tomorrow, in the meantime they gave me 10 pills to hold me over.

The other pills they were going to give me had code 711 and were Zydus. I dont know, maybe those would have worked but i found the Shire generic so went with that.

In insurance jargon, a medication is either on their:
1.) "Formulary" list meaning a preferred and encouraged through lower out-of-pocket costs.
OR
2.) "Non-formulary" list meaning not-preferred and discouraged through higher out-of-pocket cost to you.

Insurance companies haggle with various drug manufacturers and those that give them a discount are often formulary, and those that do not are nonformuarly. These lists vary a lot policy-to-policy. You get the lowest cost by going with formularly medications when you have a choice in meds.
