Cortifoam shortage?

Trying to fill a prescription for Cortifoam and not finding it anywhere. Called five different pharmacy chains and all tell me some variation of "it's back-ordered at the warehouse." No estimate as to when they might get it.

Anyone know what's up? I'd be interested in hearing if you've had a similar issue recently, or, conversely, if you've had success in obtaining it in the last week or two. Also looking for further suggestions to track some down. I'm in NJ if it matters.

Same here in CT. I was flaring while on remicade and we needed to treat the flare, but Cortifoam has been back ordered here since March. First they told me late April, then late May, so I think there’s a bigger issue with the manufacturer.

FWIW, I definitely did not want prednisone, so we added tacrolimus suppositories (off label) and they are working beautifully (knock wood!).

Maybe you can try regular steroids enemas or uceris foam instead? I remember they had this same issue a few years back when I desperately needed cortifoam. I ended up finding some at a pharmacy I never use, but it was literally the only place that had it available. It didn't help me much regardless.

Same exact thing happened to me. I went to one place they said there’s a shortage of it. But then I went to another and they said that they have plenty they just need to order some. Can you ask them to order it?

Yes, I do have some hydrocortisone enemas I can use, which I guess I will. The foam has a few advantages, of course, but if it's not out there, it's not out there.

Did you contact your gastroenterologist about this situation? We had a huge worry in 2012 over the sudden disappearance of Colazal from pharma warehouses in USA; it turned out that the manufacturer had stopped production w/o any advance notice, not even to MDs. Thereafter, I think some legislation got passed that is supposed to prevent pharmaceuticals from discontinuing meds w/o advance notice to medical professionals. My gastro subspecializes in IBD treatment & helped to get Colazal back into production within 3 months after hearing from us patients about its "disappearance". / Old Hat (37 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Hey, has anyone been able to find Cortifoam again? Tacrolimus supps have been a bit of a pain (literally) and causing some unpleasant GI side effects. I’d like to see if I can get back on cortifoam to bridge me to Entyvio. Any news, anyone? THANKS :D

Still no luck with Cortifoam, but my Dr. prescribed me Uceris foam instead. Pretty similar.

Thanks for posting about the Uceris foam Butthurt! My Dr prescribed Cortifoam but it is unavailable. Am trying to get prescription changed to Uceris foam now.
