Pains are a tricky thing, as there are so many potential pain causers in the lower-to-mid abdomen. We can have pain directly related to inflammation during a UC flare (I've had mild pains, and sharp knife stabbing pains). We can have pains from impacted stool, trapped gas. We can have pains from non-digestive related things like pancreatitis, gallstones, kidney stones, and women can gave various OBGYN type pains due to complications. We can have joint pains and muscle pains. Certain blood clots can cause pain, and severe pains can occur from bowel obstructions. If you've had prior abdominal surgeries then you can have pains from adhesions.
I'd have a doctor or nurse check it out, describe where, when, and how severe the pains are. Describe if they are point or radiating pains. Some do require medical attention, like pancreatitis that we are a lot more prone to.
I was wondering about
pancreatitis. Over a year ago when I was first diagnosed with UC. Initially when I went in I had alleviated levels of digestive enzymes which the doctor told me was pancreatitis. Then later they discovered my colonscopy. The pain is sharp all over knife like feeling.
What is the connection? Does it cause acute or chronic pancreatitis? What are the risk factors with it and how do we deal with it?
