dysplasia & J pouch surgery questions

Sorry to hear you're dealing with this. J-pouch surgery recovery depends on a lot of variables. How many steps will the procedure be? How is your health going into it? We had a member here with dysplasia who ended up needing some chemo, obviously that slows things down.

Check out the post in my signature. I go through my own recovery (from sickly to UC free). I had 3 steps, so it took 12 weeks after step 1, 8 weeks after step 2, then adjusting after step 3 took some time, but I was able to live my life without UC at that point.

I had UC for 32 yrs,no dysplasia.Colon was severely inflamed and i didn't want to go on Humira or Remi so surgery it was.Had #1 in Jan,#2 in April and 3 should be this month.I was on 7.5 mg of pred at #1 so Dr said he was doing 3 step surgery which was fine with me.Dehydration is biggest issue especially after #2 so fluids and imodium have kept me going or helped keep me going.Recovery was approx 4-5 weeks after surgery 1,6 weeks surgery #2 mainly to get strength back.Im a contractor so had to let my guys lift instead of me.Take it day to day and moment to moment and you'll be ok
