At the end of this month, I am moving to a two-bedroom house that has THREE bathrooms! I live alone with my cat. I just had to share because only you guys would understand how that could be exciting to someone with UC! Ha. I have to wonder if whoever built on that many bathrooms had digestive issues themselves. Lol. And the bathroom upstairs is super cute and roomy.

I have to wonder if whoever built on that many bathrooms had digestive issues themselves.

Bathroom needs never discussed in my family but one grandmother built downstairs bathroom not connected to their residence. I thought it was because she was heavy and couldn't travel up/down stairs easily. RV industry probably has IBD owners, way for people to travel without bathroom worries.

Haha, true about RVs! Yeah, there is a full bath off of my bedroom and another full bath off of the office upstairs, as well as a bath off of the main hallway downstairs. It is only 1,220 square feet, so not a real big house, but a good size for me and Pumpkin. It is on 10 acres though and so peaceful! I'm excited.

Jealous. I am so excited to no longer have roommates when I moved in August/Sept so I don't have to worry about someone taking up the bathroom when I am in desperate need.

I am totally envious! I currently live in a one bedroom condo with my partner and it’s definitely a source of anxiety for me. There’s been a couple times I’ve had to knock on the door when it’s occupied to say “it’s an emergency so hurry up and finish if you can” lol. Honestly, even a second half bath would make me happy!! Just need another toilet... but alas, we are stuck here for at least the next 3-5 years so my dream of living somewhere with multiple bathrooms will have to wait.

I cannot imagine having to share one bathroom with roommates or a partner! I feel for you guys.

I hate sharing a bathroom too. 3 bathrooms sounds like a dream.

I knew you guys would "get" it! smile I'm also fortunate I get to work from home. I used to worry when I had to work at an office and we only had one stall.

That is fantastic!! I can totally understand the joy. I live with my husband in a house with 4, count them, 4 bathrooms. One is in the basement and it is kind of yucky, we use it as a project room when we paint or do repairs or whatever. That is "his" bathroom, it is in the basement near his man cave, LOL. The rest are nice and for ME. (I am generous enough to allow him to use them. Sometimes. Hahahah).

I remember a friend once saying "You need four bathrooms for just the two of you?" Well maybe not but I sure do appreciate them.

Jealous! We have 2 bathrooms in our house and 4 if us to share them. Luckily my kids know that if I say I need the bathroom they had better give me first priority! I would love a bathroom just for me, since my two boys are not the neatest bathroom users!

My teens got me B-Day card last year that showed a man opening up drivers side door and he sat on a toilet to drive.Card said this is next present we are getting you.I said it would be best present i ever got.Had surgery to remove Colon this year so don't need the Toilet mobile anymore.Funny card that only we would like to have

Congrats that's like hitting the lottery for us. When I bought this house (almost a year ago) having multiple bathrooms was non-negotiable, and we didn't even look at single bathroom places. Now we have a his bathroom and hers bathroom, and it's simply wonderful. No more "hold on, I'm almost dones", no more guilt for pooping awfully while she's in the shower, waking anyone up at 4am cuz poops, etc smile

That's amazing! I can't wait for that day to come for me. I currently live in a 2-bed, 1-bath apartment. In finding a new roommate, I had to disclose that I may sometimes have to kick them out of the shower....Great thing to have to tell someone the first time you meet them. "By the way, I poop funny and it may inconvenience you. Wanna live with me?!"

(Though it's a good benchmark for me. If I'm kicking my roommate out of the shower, it's time to call the doctor)

@suttie -- I got diagnosed with these two roommates, so I had to disclose the situation so the one I share the bathroom with would understand. The one who has her own bathroom said I could use hers whenever -- just knock if she is home. I was soooo thankful. Ditching the roommate situation in 1-2 months will be a relief -- I make the bathroom smell SO bad sometimes and am in there for so long it is embarrassing. I couldn't imagine sharing this information with someone I hadn't already lived with for ~1.5 years.

Oh man, we bought our house in the great housing crash. We put 5 contracts out before we got one. Post UC diagnosis, I shudder thinking about the 1 bathroom we didn't get. There are 5 of us, and I have had accidents just getting from my bed into my bathroom. Congrats!

Prior to my surgery I put a 4th bathroom in my house when I had my basement finished.

I couldn’t make it from the TV room in the basement to the first floor bathroom in time.

I live alone in a 3 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms.

More then the number of bathrooms, I think the placement of the bathrooms throughout the house in more important. I have at least have one bathroom on each floor.

Thanks guys! Yes, bathroom placement is good in this house -- one off the bedroom, one upstairs off the office, and one in the main hallway downstairs.

Sara, this has been a great post, lol. Unless a person has an IBD they have no clue the importance of bathrooms! I live in a 2 story house, only 2 of here most of the time. Sometimes I have to yell incoming, I can't do the stairs, too much movement involved, lol.

With UC, we're much like an american football quarterback on our way to the bathroom: running, jumping over and agilely dodging around obstacles, and knocking out-of-the-way all that are in our path to the end-zone.

Oh absolutely, there must be a bathroom on each floor. There is no way we can go up or down any stairs when dealing with urgency. No way.
