How Mycobacterium tuberculosis escapes death in macrophages

This is interesting.
If crohn's is actually caused by MAP, does MAP work the same way on macrophages as TB.
If so nicotinamide might help.
They have also found MAP in UC people.

I have tested positive for MAP and I tried the antibiotic therapy for it, but I could not tolerate the antibiotics for very long. I am thinking of trying again but at smaller doses or maybe using different antibiotics because the protocol seemed to be working. MAP is really hard to find because it needs a special culture that only a couple labs in the world are doing properly. My friend in the Crohn's MAP organization told me that they are creating a rapid test for MAP in the UK, along with the Crohn's MAP vaccine. It can tell you right away if you have MAP or not. Maybe with that, they can do better research.

I would bet money on most IBD being caused by a microbe like MAP. Dr. Borody in Australia says that in his experience UC is mostly caused by fusobacteria and Crohn's is caused by MAP, but there is overlap. I never tested positive for fusobacteria but I did test positive for MAP. I got my blood test done while flaring and my numbers were high.

They also have been finding MAP in MS, RA and CFS patients, and they get better once treated. It seems like MAP causes more than one kind of disease. Maybe it has to do with the mitochondria being damaged?
