Hi I'm new here. UC x 17 years. I've been on Remicade x 10 years..stopped taking 2 years ago. Started working with Dr Snow holistic GI protocol x 1 year ago. Doing well when first started working with him then found skin cancer that had to be removed 1-2 months later. Stitches
opened during treatment causing infection and 5 antibiotics to treat. This sent me into a c diff induced UC flare up. I was unable to leave my home for months.
I have always found correlations with my cycle, would always get "mini flares" monthly, even when on Remicade. I also would go without having my cycle after having big flare ups. I've gone 3-4 months after every big flareup with no period. My GI pretty much laughed at me, and said there was no scientific data to support any correlation with hormones. Smh..I explained that may be true, but that's what happens with me. I have recently found a new GI doc.
Last year, I went to my GYN for my annual...at that time I had gone 4 months with no period following a flareup. She ran labs, lots and lots of labs!! It showed that my LH was at a postmenopausal range...I was only 35 at that time and had absolutely not gone through menopause!! She said early menopause and before we decided on treatments I started my cycle. I had normal cycles x 6-8 months. Then flareup in December 2017, now no period x 6 months. This is the longest I've gone without. I know it has something to do with how much stress the body is under during a flareup but why can't any doc explain this. They are all very quick to say is early menopause!! I am having lots of symptoms...irritability, increased anxiety, VERY painful intercourse, not sleeping well, bloating and indigestion at bedtime.
Has anyone else experienced this? It's so frustrating!! I'm so glad I found this forum...I finally see that many women have found increased symptoms during periods...which is comforting to know I'm not crazy as doc tried to make me believe
