Fevers and Simponi

I probably would have skipped. Your body must be fighting something. 103 is high. I am worried. where are you traveling? I hope the fever comes down so you can enjoy yourself.

I am less worried about your UC, & more worried about the potential for an opportunistic infection. Please take it easy and go to the doctor if you aren't feeling well.

Not sure where you are vacationing (domestic or abroad), and whether you could go to a walk-in urgent-care facility?

OK I was examined. I still have bowel sounds. I was given IV fluids because I was very dehydrated. He gave me anti and probiotics and more Tylenol.

He didn't give a diagnosis. I know it's not the flu. It's my body fighting against the inflammation. How else can I maintain a fever for over a month?

I'd hate having to stop simponi because it's actually working. I will certainly try an antihistamine. I remember having to take them when I was on remicade

I found out that benadryl is just diphenhydramine. I have that in my sleep aid. What's the difference?

Should I better try claritin since this is a different ingredient?

My understanding is either Benadryl or Claritin is acceptable as an anti-histamine (choices given with a remicade infusion and often applied to other biologics when an infusion-reaction is suspected). Anything beyond that, I'd ask a pharmacist or doctor.

Claritin is non-drowsy, and often got over the counter for seasonal allergies for daytime use. So, you'd be safe taking it during the day and not have issues.

Ask your doctor about Simponi/golimumab-antibodies and possible serum-sickness. You should not be having fevers from Simponi, your immune system is fighting it in some sort of way, and an anti-body test might be a good idea. /www.labcorp.com/test-menu/39041/golimumab-and-anti-golimumab-antibody

Low temp fevers can be from a UC flare by itself, also. 103 was a high-fever though, and a bit troubling to say the least!

I take Tylenol but the fever keeps coming back. My next injection is on August 21. Last time it didn't wane at all. Today I'm feeling better than yesterday. Tired a lot but today I managed to stay awake.

Oh no. I am sorry to hear that. The 21st is around the corner at least. It sounds like you're doing really well, maybe things will continue to improve, especially after your next infusion.
