The new citrate free formula of Humira is available in the US! I confirmed with my specialty pharmacy that they have it and require a new script for the change. Wanted to share as I have been waiting patiently for the new formula to come out.

Interesting, didn't know anything about that citrate additive or the benefits of its removal.

"Removal of citric acid monohydrate has already taken place in the UK and a "pain free" version has been on the market for some time now. Upon further research it appears the FDA has approved the removal of this ingredient from the US Humira formulation."

Is it just a way to extend their patent and keep their market share? That was the first thing that I thought of.

ks1905 - that's what I thought because I couldn't understand why it had been available overseas but not in the US.

iPoop thanks for posting the study. I'll report back once I have tried to new version. The sting isn't horrible but it would be nice if it was just a pin prick without the burn.
