I was diagnosed 4 months ago with UC, lost 45 pounds in the first month while waiting for "the scope" and results. I couldn't eat anything more than two tiny bites of food without triggering a sprint to the restroom, and, while wandering through Costco with my girlfriend, came across a ginger kombucha 6-pack on sale. It's the KT's Brand "Gingerade", which is sweeter than some of the others with a little fizz, but not too much more than a two hour old glass of pop from a fountain. Ginger, as I learned early while on Asacol and Uceris, is my friend. It takes care of the intense nausea almost immediately, and I stopped vomiting my meds right back up. (Side note here: Drink only filtered water. The stuff from our faucet in Florida was a HUGE contributor to my uneasy stomach. The chlorine content of Florida's tap water is possibly why I lost so much so drastically fast, via uncontrollable vomiting. According to my doctor.) I drink one everyday now. I can eat normal(ish) foods with minimal emergency sprints, and have "leveled off" on the weight loss. Now I'm maintaining, taking only my 2.4 Grams Asacol and 3 Centrum multivitamins every morning. In case this may be of some help to someone out there, I use Ensure or Kirkland Brand Nutrition Shakes while at work to minimize the need to "go" for a solid shift most of the time. I take a quick break to chug one every 3-4 hours, or more if needed, and I am able to press on.
