Hi All -
I am so excited. I have my - what? "take down," "reversal", whatever surgery, day after tomorrow! (When explaining it to people, I call it my "reconnection" surgery. The Dr. has told me the procedure is about
30 minutes, and then probably 4-5 days in the hospital, until I at least pass gas. I am planning to walk as much as I can as soon as I can!
Surgeon said that worst case he ever had was someone who had also recently finished chemo... it took her 15 days to pass gas! Yikes!!
We are in a long heat wave around here, and we live in a historic house ("an" historic house, eh?) without A/C. We have a window unit so we can sleep at night. But my current line is, "This surgery? Yeah....See the lengths I will go to, to stay in a place with Central A/C?"
I've had a zillion tests, between the post-chemo tests and the pre-op tests. Tomorrow I see the oncologist for my first post-chemo appointment. He will give me the results of the CT scan I had last week. I am a little anxious, but not too worried.....the CT scan prior, to chemo, and the one halfway through chemo were both fine, so after even more junk being pumped into me, this one ought to be fine also.
I will post after the surgery! I sometimes post on the Ostomy board, but it is not as active as this one. And you are my long-time "gut buddies!"
I wish everyone the best heath possible!

Great news. Let us know how it goes tomorrow & then again on Thurs. My takedown was only 30 minutes too, and I was out of the hospital within 48 hours. Might have even been 36 hours, it was a short stay. I could see purposely staying to get the central air though, it's SO hot lately. Good luck.

So excited for you! Hope you have a smooth ride from here on out. Keep us posted how it goes. I’m having my takedown done in the next couple months and love to read others experiences.
Good Luck!

Final step in putting UC in your rear-view mirror, and moving on with a bright future without worrying about
bathrooms, flares, medicine, or doctors. I bet you'll love the new UC-free you

It's tomorrow.
Actually, today I had an appointment with my oncologist. Good news: last week's CT scan was clear. I now can go 3 months before I go back there!
I got word that I need to be at the hospital at 5:45 am!! It's 25 minutes away. I am fine with that; I figure I'll have plenty of time to rest in the next few days! But I feel bad for my DH! My guess is that the surgeon likes to do the 30 minute procedures before he does the one that go on for hours.
I had t take one 10 oz bottle of magnesium citrate for my prep. I was supposed to drink it at 2 m, but due to the oncology appt, I drank it at 4 pm. It was hysterical how quickly the bag kept filling! lol
I am not great at doing Healing Well from my phone, but I will check in when I can.
