8 years post j pouch surgery.....life is good

I haven’t posted in a long time so I thought I’d stop by and say hi. My j pouch surgery was 8 years ago this past June and my takedown anniversary is coming up in October. Everything has been great....no issues. Not one bout of pouchitis. (Knock wood!) It was a tough road for a while going thru the surgeries and the time it took to heal. But thinking back now it was such a small chunk of time. Especially when I think of all the years of endless flaring.
I hope anyone having surgery soon or recently went thru is it is doing well. I know it seems like forever to feel better when you’re in the thick of it but it does end and you will go back to normal!

On another note:
Are there any new medications out or on the horizon for UC? I haven’t kept up with it at all and being that UC runs in my family big time, I always have my kids in the back of my mind getting hit with it someday. Lord, I certainly hope not.

There are so many ore medications out there than when I was first diagnosed, for sure. I am glad that if my own younger family members need these some day, there are more choices.... and I hope there is someday a cure or a strategy better than there has been.....

Wow I really needed to read your post today. I’m currently in the hospital after step one. It hasn’t been easy but when I read posts like yours it gives me hope! I’m so glad you’re healthy and doing well. Thanks Shannon
