Drugs like amphetamines and their effect?

Before I knew I had colitis I got badly addicted to uppers, and whilst I have mostly shook off the addiction, I have had occasional relapses in the last year. I already know these are bad for UC, but I'm wondering if anybody knows any specific levels of damage they can do, if anyone else had this problem, and any general facts that may encourage me to steer clear of them.
