Bad acid reflux , I’m on 20mg of omoperzole

I.m already on omoperzole, why does it burn so bad in my throat right at my Adam’s apple and down. What more can I do?
I burp up acid or food. Or I feel like I’m so hungry and I think that’s to mask the burn.
I just had a scope in October, he didn’t say anything except he saw some ”rings” in my throat probably from acid reflux.

I’m taking my asacol several times a day per doctor, 1 x 4 a day

When I had UC, i was always suffering with reflux or LPR, now it never effects me. I don't know what it was, maybe the meds, or maybe the UC, had something to do with it, but your post just reminded me that I don't have it anymore. Never really fully appreciated that it's gone.

I have silent acid reflux (my only symptom is a really bad chronic cough) 20 mg is an OTC dosage and didn't do anything for me. I was on 40 mg of omemprazole and that worked well and the cough went completely away. Then my GI doc wanted me to get off of it so I slowly tapered down and symptoms returned with a vengeance. Even going back up to 40 mg didn't work anymore. My PCP changed me to Dexilant and that got rid of the cough. I know the risks of taking PPIs, but I absolutely cannot live with that cough. It's not just a little clear your throat type of cough. It's a deep prolonged sounds like I am choking type of cough. I tried every type of natural remedy and diet restrictions and nothing worked except the PPIs

You need to weigh the risks of the PPIs vs the risks of the acid reflux and decide what to do, but I wouldn't be afraid of a stronger dosage of omemprazole or a change in medication

I was like so terrible last night, woke me up,to point of crying, took a tums NO relief then I said I’m going to take a digestive enzyme. I took one and I could almost feel the relief in 15 mins, no kidding, I took two more and wham back to sleep no problems at all!

Is the omoperzole effecting my digestive juices I need for my food?

I take Digest GOLD. I’m so amazed how they helped me!! I might be better taking them after meals.

You could try a different kind of medication. Have you tried Zantac? 300mg at bedtime.

What enzymes did you take?

Digest gold.by enzamedica, I still will need to take something with it or at nighttime. The enzyme help but don’t take care of it all

How long have you been on the omoperzole? I think I remember my doctor saying it takes a while to fully work, maybe 3 months... also, a lot of people are on combinations of medications for reflux.

Sometimes I take two doses, one before breakfast and one with supper. I try not to eat anything too late, ie. supper by 6:30pm, and if I think there may be problems I sleep in a chair.

Try elevating the head of the bed 7 inches

My doctor suggested Gaviscon. I has to be Extra Strength and I would have to buy it online. It is produces a foam that lines the stomach. I am not sure how or when to take it and haven't tried it yet. I get by on 20mg omeprazole. Zantac or its generic did nothing for me.
