Could it be more than UC

Hello all,

Diagnosed with uc proctitis March 2018. GI said only 4cm in the rectum. I Have consistent mucos and occasionally blood but feel crappy pretty much every day. No diarrhea ever. However a handful of times I have had excruciating pain anywhere from my sides, mid stomach, and lower stomach. Almost went to er this weekend it was so bad. Usually it just lasts an hour but this time was all day. Typically the pain stops after I can get a poop out. I have a almost 2 year old and when this happens I am completely worthless and have to have my husband come home from work. I'm on 4.8 mesalamine for the last month or so. Any suggestions on what this is? Is this a UC symptom even though I just have 4cm of proctitis or is it something else? What can I do in the moment to help it? Laxative? Remember I never have diarrhea...even though I have the 4cm I feel like I'm in denile about it being UC. Thank you for being here for me and sharing your input. I just wish I could find someone with a similar situation that has found a solution.

Proctitis is not UC.
Did you have stool tests?
Were you diagnosed with a colonoscopy and biopsies?
I always wonder if people only had a sig scope, what if there was more going on they don't know about? Not to say that's the case, as it sounds like there was just 4cm there, but you never know.

Are you using suppositories or enemas? You should be using one, or both. I used Canasa for my procitis and had a lot of luck getting it under control for a while.

Some people with proctitis can get it handled with antibiotics if it's caused by a pathogen.

UP and proctitis are not the same either. Ulcerative Proctitis is chronic. Proctitis is not, that said, I had proctitis, and eventually I ended up with pancolitis, so you really don't know where it's heading.

I hope yours is a bought that resolves quickly. I can imagine how hard it is with a child. I have pets, and it would be very difficult to take them out if they were waiting at the door. Not the same as a child of course, but having urgent D makes it difficult to manage any responsibilities. You should get rectal meds. Oral pills treat a higher area better.
