"Do some use enema for maintenance?" Yes, sometimes they can be necessary as a maintenance medication. I've taken nightly enemas for about 5-years now. Other's can taper off of them and do without during maintenance. Try reducing, and listen to your body, and if things get worse then you need them indefinitely.
"I suppose could go morning and night to get a longer remission?" I've taken two enemas a day with some success for stubborn inflammation.
"Is it common for proctitis to be so stubborn at times however remain mild?" Really hit-or miss, sometimes a proctitis is easy going, other times it can be a real bear of trouble, and there's no knowing beforehand what you got to contend with. Only having a 'mild case' is pretty much meaningless unless your easily controlled with the mildest medications, have long remissions, and infrequent and mild flares. Patient response is everything and the better measure. Having proctitis doesn't give one an easy-pass to this whole UC thing. Rather, rectal inflammation is always the first to appear, the last to disappear, and the most severe inflammation that we can have.
