st johns wort and passionflower ok?

Any reason to think St. Johns Wort and/or Passionflower would be contraindicated for someone with UC. My teen son (has severe pancolitis in remission for 2 years now) is struggling a bit with anxiety and depression does not want to go on SSRIs. I have had success treating my anxiety with a st johns wort/passionflower combo but was concerned about giving it to him with his UC.
Thoughts?

Not that I am aware of, but I am no expert either. You could always try at a lower dosage and increase, and watch for symptoms.
