The positive sides of colitis

This forum is kinda like those comment cards at restaurants and hotels, who fills them out? Only those who have the very worst experience. I'll fill out those cards sometimes just to say the waitstaff and food were fantastic, and mention the server's name as a kudos to them. I bet that rarely happens!
I know I was initially scared to post here, as I was newly diagnosed and just a mild case. I ended up becoming a severe case, and learned a lot from others insight and experience here, and it ended up helping! Wildly unpredictable prognosis is a common thing for the initial 5-years, good to know as much as you can. Hope for the best, plan for the worst, and hopefully land some in the middle with good tidbits of knowledge for all possible outcomes ;-)

Oh yes, I've had severe knife-stabbing pains before during my worst flare. It's the kinda thing that doubles-you over and takes your breath away. At my worst, I had 25+ bms a day, near-incontinence and insane urgency, I really should have been admitted to the hospital but I am a stubborn Taurus and waited for the oral pred to make me feel better. Deepest darkest place I've ever been in emotionally with accidents and everything else; you exist and not live (due to the rather crappy quality of life). UC is a hell of a disease for some of us.
