Cortiment taper or stop?

I am on my third box (30 x 9mg tablets) of cortiment and GI said if I am reasonably well to stop them next week.

No mention of a taper. My pharmacist wasn’t 100% sure but gave me study info about not needing to taper and my GP said maybe do a week taking it every other day.
Again, GI said to stop with no further instructions in my paperwork.

Anyone know what is right? Taper necessary or cold turkey?

There is no taper necessary with budesonide/cortiment/uceris/clipper.

Why? It's a 90% topical medication and there should be no steroid withdrawal symptoms experienced.

If it makes you feel better and/or you want to be extra cautious, then do every-other-day for a few days and then stop.

I assume that’s why my GI didn’t mention a taper schedule. Will go with extra cautious but that’s just because I can!

Good luck, fingers crossed you can get off of the steroids and stay stable, and put your flare firmly within the rear-view mirror. How are you feeling and do you have any UC symptoms left?

Been feeling good. Haven’t seen blood in over a week but that has been happening on and off for a few months now! Week to week improvements so am hopeful!

I have no pain or urgency and 2 bms a day on average. Just hope the blood stays away.

Yup, if things go the other direction imuran is next. I’m okay with that now too. Funny how it takes a bit of thinking/reading and then I can accept what’s next as needed!
