Now or wait till after Colonoscopy?

Many of you know that I am blessed to only have mild Crohn’s Colitis and have had it since 2007.

My disease is related to a couple of things; stress and anxiety, and I flare when I have a scope of any kind.

This time as soon as I booked my colonoscopy check up I started flaring due to the anxiety.

My flare symptoms are usually some mucus, blood and a slight increase in BM’s.

This time my only symptom is slight specs of blood on tissue and stools. With normal BM’s twice a day.

I have a scope in December and I’m wondering whether I should delay all my main flare medications (Flagyl, Asacol Suppositories, Quin Dai (trying it for first time), Rectal creams) etc. until after the scope as it makes me worse?

Or go after it now and start all the meds?

To be honest the symptoms really feel like hemorrhoids right now but past experience has shown that Hemmies and Colitis usually flare up at the same time.[url]

I would not take an antibiotic before need. In you case, I assume it is for manipulation of gut-microbes and not infection, so need can be tricky to define. But it is toxic, and your gut microbes can lose response to any frequent antibiotic.

It sounds like anxiety leads to increased inflammation, which leads to symptoms. Rather than treat inflammation before it appears, why not treat the anxiety which is here now.

I’m taking Propoponal for the anxiety and trying to see if it’s Hemmies by using meds for that.

The scope can’t wait it’s been 5 years - so need to do that.

Might start suppositories but they’re my go to med on a real flare up and don’t want to go straight there if possible.
