The only real difference amongst the mesalamine brands is the pill dosage and proprietary coating. Among the lialda generics the dosage per pill is the same. Leaving just the coating being potentially different among them. The zydus variant has a pentasa-like coating. The original lialda and shire-generic are identical. This one you're talking about at least has an asacol/delzicol coating, which is very similar to lialdas.
You'll have to let us know how it goes. Pharmacists and gasteroenterologists will say there's no/little difference among tge various mesalamines. Anecdotally here, some say certain brands work better for them than others. So, sometimes switches are uneventful and otgers have experienced issues. I've gone from asacol to lialda, to asacol hd (zydus) generic, to zydus lialda generic without issues.
