Had the colonoscopy today and here is what they found:

- Removed two 2mm small polyps from cecum.
- ileum was normal
- mild granular erythema at the hepatic flexure and rectosigmoid junction.
- Otherwise normal mucosa throughout.

Overall: Two very small mild area of inflammation otherwise normal endoscopic appearance. 2 small polyps removed.

I’m freaked out by the polyps - anyone else had them?

Yes...but mine were hyperplasic. My husband had two removed....precancerous.

Good results on your scope....keep up with the meds, and I strongly suggest you use retention enemas for the recto-sigmoid area. Supps won't deal with it effectively.
What oral mesalamine are you on?

Not sure about results but I’m pretty sure that Polyps that are less than 1cm (mine are 2mm) are only 1% serious. She didn’t seem concerned.

It was a good scope otherwise I think?

While size may be a visual criteria, it didn't stop her from removing it. I'm not a believer in stats for subjective relief, but the best part is that it is small and isolated.

Yes...a good scope result with isolated and limited inflammation. You have CD, so dealing with those areas are a must where there is enough med treating them continually.

All they found was mild redness which could have been from the prep itself. Happened to me once, doctor said: "Redness is either from the harsh prep or very mild inflammation, the biopsy results will say which it is for certain. Regardless I had made very good progress and should be very happy with my results." When the biopsy results came back, I was confirmed to be within a remission. The prep creates superficial surface redness that does not go into the tissue at all. If it goes deeper into the tissue then it is from your UC/Crohn's. Mild inflammation as described in your report is very, very minor. It could go away by continuing our current treatment and giving it more time, or you could make minor dosage changes to your meds to achieve a remission.

Most polyps are non-cancerous. Nothing said in the report makes it sounds like the cancerous variety (not mentioned to be a flat-polyp). Again, the biopsy results will say for certain. Polyps are very common.

Overall, I think you should be very happy with these results. It's like getting an "A" on an important test. The biopsy results might make it an A+ (if that wasn't really inflammation). Cheers!

Don't be too freaked out. A lot of people will get polyps in their life. They may or may not become cancerous, but we're at special risk for cancer because of our flares so they treat the polyps more aggressively.
Also, it sounds like you may have Chrohns Disease because of the isolated inflammation? If you do the Chrohn forum might be more specific and helpful to you, because at the end of the day CD and UC are different conditions.

Yes the redness is most likely from the prep no question about that. The colonoscopy clearly shows either very mild inflammation or just redness. It’s a very pleasing scope.

I’ve never had a polyp so was freaked out about that but thankful they were small and removed.
