White Cells High With Low CRP

Hi all,

Just been to the GP (PCP) for my blood test results I requested after feeling fatigued. He said the results were unusual as my white cells were high (along with high Neutrophils and Monocytes), but my CRP level was normal.

He said this was very odd and sent a letter to my GI asking for him to review it. He said I should expect CRP levels to be high with the levels of inflammation I obviously have.

It was all a little too technical for me & ive left feeling confused. Can anyone tell me if it's normal to get these results if you have UC or perhaps it's because I'm on infliximab?

I did speak to the gp about this but he said he would expect infliximab to lower my white cells more than my CRP?

I'm not due to see my GI until February so thought I'd ask her for some insight

Yes usually my CRP is high if I'm flaring. If I'm honest it's looking like the infliximab isn't working as I'm still mildly flaring despite just upping my infusion frequency from 8 to 6 weeks. Although I have seen a big response from it, at this point it's not quite enough. Perhaps this blood test result is because it's only half working?

I think my gp was confused as to why one was high while the other was normal and everything I've found on google seems to reflect one usually follows the other hence his concern over my unusual results
