Lialda pill coating mixed with poop in toilet bowl

I’ve been finding the clay colored Lialda pill coating mixed with diarrhea in the toilet bowl when I go. Does this mean it’s not dissolving at right PH level in my body? Am I not getting the full benefit of the Mesalamine?

Are you only seeing to coating or is the whole pill there? If it is just coating you are fine, if the pills are whole, you should call your doctor and let them know. I just switched to a different generic, I was using Shire’s generic, and I seem to break these pills down much better than shire’s. I am currently taking the North Star, which seems to be the same as Zydus, version now.

Just the coating is in the bowl. I’ve taken Lialda for several yrs and this is first time Im seeing the coating.

The coating is only to transport the med and allow it to be released in the terminal ileum and throughout colon. It's not usually totally digested....no big deal. Just because you saw one today, doesnt mean they've never been there. Diarrhea means stool isn't compacted, so easier to see.

Not an issue...ever.

Perfectly normal to see red/orange flakes of lialda coating in your stool. It's supposed to disintegrate. No worries.

This is similar to Asacol, I believe. I used to think I was passing the pill, but my GI doc told me it's just the outer casing, which is normal and common, especially with slow-release tabs.
