Azathioprine dose

I started with 50mg, but was increased to 100mg maybe 2 months later when some of my bleeding returned and blood tests showed that I was metabolizing the 50 too fast. 100mg will be my standard dose going forward as long as the combo with the Inflectra continues to work. You will be fine at 100mg. Some people take 150mg. They are both relatively low doses.

Weight training and exercise are completely fine as long as you are physically up to it.

*Typical* dosing for azathioprine is 2.5mg/kg of body mass. That works out to a little more than your weight in pounds.

So if you weigh 150lbs, your dose would be around 150mg/day.. If you weigh closer to 100lbs, your dose would be around 100mg/day. If you weigh 200lbs, your dose would be around 200mg/day.

Those are generalizations. If you want to know whether your dose is sufficient, insufficient, or even higher than necessary, there are blood tests to look at your levels of metabolic products to see if you're in range or not.

OK, but aren't you taking it along with inflectra?

The dosing I gave was for monotherapy with aza, not for combo therapy with an anti-tnf.

For combo therapy, the dosing recommendation is ... actually still the same, at least for now.

There is thought that lower doses might be sufficient when it's taken along with an anti-tnf. It's unknown what doses are needed for prevention of anti-tnf antibody formation. It might be less than the guidelines I gave above, or it might not. I'm pretty sure there are studies/trials looking into that right now.
