Stupid prednisone side effects

As I have been tapering pred (down to 22.5 mg from 40) I have noticed my heart starts racing around 2 pm every day for an hour to 90 minutes. It used to do it about an hour after I took it, but has switched to mid-day (I generally take my pred around 7 am). Is this because I am tapering and my body is struggling a bit with the taper? uC wise things are going very well, so it is annoying and it makes be feel lousy if I try to do anything that doesn’t involve sitting. Of course this is always when I am running home from work to meet the kids from school so I can’t just sit around and do nothing. I gave up waking to work this week because of this and I am sure hoping it stops soon! I am scheduled to drop to 20 mg tomorrow. Thanks!

A racing heart is a common pred side effect, I'd often have it above 20mgs of pred. It was especially annoying when I was trying to sleep, laying in bed, and it sounded like I was running a marathon. Another reason I couldn't sleep was that loud sound of my racing heart in the otherwise near silence of my bedroom.
