Pyroderma under wafer

Got rid of colon and rectum to get rid of UC. Happy with the ileostomy. But now a year after having rectum removed I keep getting pyroderma. Family dr said he knows someone who deal with it. But while I'm waiting for appt need to know if there is anything I can do to keep from getting it. Because it's under my wafer. Uhg!

I’m not exactly sure what I had because I was so sick at the time but I know they used Silver Nitrate to cauterize it.

Then they changed my setup so I didn’t get any additional leaks on my skin.

I had several under the wafer. Ouch!!
I was given a steroid ointment, and antibiotic ointment, and blue pads (can't think of the name right now) which I applied at bag changes and which helped to shrink the areas. (I will look those up if that would help.) Then when I had my reversal, the surgeon removed the pyrodermas.

Are you getting leaks on your skin? Have you tried an antifungal prescription medication?

The hospital that I had my surgery at had an ostomy/wound nurse on staff for their outpatients. The appointment was real easy to make and I was in there in 2 days. Maybe call up your surgeons office and see what they recommend.
