Advice needed please...

My Ulcerative Colitis has been behaving well for the past few months and I am now on maintenance Pentasa slow release granules 2mg and Salofalk 1gm suppository per day. However - never rains but it pours and having been in real trouble with muscle pain in the past 6 weeks have finally been diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and have been prescribed Prednisolone and Omeprazole. My concern is with the Omeprazole. I did ask my GP if there would be any problems between that and my Pentasa and she said not but I can help thinking that as Pentasa releases in the small intestine when the PH is low surely the fact that Omaprazole inhibits stomach acid this is going to make a difference. Does anyone else take both?

You'll be fine as Pentasa doesn't have a PH-dependent, delayed-release coating that'd be impacted by a stomach acid-inhibitor. Rather, pentasa has a ethylcellulose-based coating which allows time and moisture dependent release of the active drug, independent of the pH. Medication is distributed gradually throughout the gastrointestinal tract from the duodenum to the rectum.
