I just started a trial for UC. First drug administered is either Vancomycin OR Placebo and then I will be taking a fecal pill OR Placebo for 10 weeks. I'm not currently on any meds, am in an active flare, and the colonoscopy and visits with the GI are covered within the study. This apparently is the second round of the trial and the first round went fairly well. , I've tried multiple other drugs and none have worked for me outside of steroids, which can only be taken short-term and have terrible side-effects. Even if this study provides me with only reduced symptoms, I will be thrilled.

Have you failed biologicals? If so, which ones?

Sounds promising! Please keep us updated. I hope it works for you. How do you work or even function day-to-day when in an active flare when no meds are working? I am always scared of this happening to me because I can barely function when flaring.

Just completed my week of vancomycin and today started the FT/placebo pills. (It's clear that these are the FT pills). My stool is now normal color and small chunks compared to before. There was zero solid stool before and it was orange colored.
I have not taken any biological drugs to treat UC.
I was on no drugs or steroids and was trying to manage it without taking meds. They all had bad side effects and I was not ready to go to the next level of biological drugs.
I don't work and had frequent bms before the trial started. Very active flare which is why I was excited to do this trial.
Urgent need to go has decreased significantly. UC began when I was pregnant with my almost 7 year old daughter. Seemingly healthy before.
