Hi all,
For a while I have been posting on this forum about
my stubborn flare. I have been in a flare for exactly 2 years straight now. The usual sympotoms including bloody stool, abdominal cramps, going to the bathroom 7 times a day and eating less, all accompanied my flare.
The medicines I tried were:
Balsalizide
Humira
Entyvio
Hydrocortisone Enemas
Methotrexate
and more that I cant remember....
All that being said, I was and still am on prednisone....but tapering down finally and thankfully.
And that is all thanks to XELJANZ! My doctor was hesitant to put me on this medicine because it was relatively new, but i tried it and believe it worked. I have been symptom free for about
3 months now.
I hope this helps for anyone that is trying to get out of their flare. I personally had faith in this drug because I understood my body. I am a natural athlete ((also 22 year old male) which means I have a high metobolism. This lead me to believe that all the injection drugs were getting cleared from my body too fast (which is why I had to up the doses on humira , entyvio etc.) Point being is you know your body better than anyone else.
And dont be afraid to try xeljanz if everything else is failing.
Hope you all achieve remission soon!

We have had a few people who didn't have luck with much and responded to xeljanz. I hope you continue to have luck. it's always good to read a success story.

Another success story like my own, Xeljanz is working great for me, no longer looking for restrooms etc.
BMs between 1 and 5 , nice firm stool, no blood, but never have I suffered that way.
After all the good news I still have to watch my diet, although I think some of that is still a phobia left from having UC for the past 17 years

I hope the good result holds after the pred taper. Interesting thoughts about
metabolic clearing. I am not sure about
the pharmacokinetics of the particular drug and the rate of calorie burning. But it is something to wonder about
.

I was wondering how your experience has been with xeljanz the last month? I am in a 4 month stubborn flare while on remicade and have engaged in every rectal remedy possible. Remicade saved my colon two years ago but my symptoms, although not nearly as bad are returning. My GI is looking to switch me over to Stelera or to Xlejanz. He prefers Stelera but I would like Xeljanz. Is it still working for you?

Speaking for myself everything is good with Xeljanx I wish it would work for everyone but life is not like that.
For many it does not seem to work at all so I guess I'm a lucky one.

Limey and Jrreys - how long did it take for the Xeljanz to be effective for you?

I'm so happy for you and it's so great to read a success story! This gives me hope as well since I need some optimism while my first biologic (Humira) isn't, so far, putting me in to remission ... always good to be reminded there are other options!!

I noticed some improvement after about
a month on Xeljanz, but it took much longer to really see more full results. I'm almost a full 5 months in now and am down to 2-3 BM's per day with no visible bleeding most of the time. I still have some occasional urgency, but nothing like before and have only noticed the bleeding when I eat or drink something I know can be a trigger (alcohol, in particular). I even have some days with only one BM. My doctor believes it may have taken longer for me to get results because I was in such an inflamed state when starting Xeljanz. For me it's been a game changer, and I have no desire to go off it.

little_bear - I, too, was in an extremely inflamed state when starting Xeljanz. I think time is needed for this to kick in. I am hopeful, and your story gives me hope as well. Thank you and I hope you continue to heal.
