I have had mixed experiences when I travel.
1) Last year I went on a road trip, (drive all day then stay in a hotel for a night, then visit family who were staying at a campground in the afternoons to early evening then the same drive him). That trip was not good, I don’t know what I was thinking now. I would eat almost nothing all day. Maybe a small piece of bread once in a while, so I was hungry all day, then, when we were close to the hotel I would eat a meal at a restaurant, anything goes, spent most evenings doubled over in pain for a few hours, then I’d wake up in the morning and start the whole thing all over again.
2) Last fall I stayed at an all inclusive resort and there I ate as close to what I would eat at home as possible. Rice, potatoes, only cooked veggies, some beans and fish, green juice in the mornings (Mexico) . I get very tired on vacations.
3) Then last month I went away for the weekend right after a colonoscopy, in a flare, with a clip in my intestine because a blood vessel broke during the biopsy. I ate potato, rice, steamed veggies, most of the time , and a few times I ordered something tasty like a sandwich or buttered toast and just ate little amounts and saved more until later.
I made these decisions based on keeping track of what seems ok, and I think we are all different. If I want to eat something that is known to cause pain (in my case fried food, bok choy, cabbage or many raw veggies, Chinese takeout) I can still eat them, but I only eat about 1/4 to 1/2 a cup with plain white rice or potatoes and cooked carrots or peas.
thank you. That seems like a good option since those food are agreeable to me too. I really don’t want trouble in foreign country even if I’m feeling well. Rather not risk it.
But it sucks because I like to try different food and I like super hot/spicy stuff
