Generic 5ASA

I had been taking Lialda and then the Shire generic with no issues at all. about 6 months ago my pharmacy switched to the North Star brand of 5ASA. Initially I noticed no change, but since July I have been pooping these pills out 2-3 at a time ( I take 4 a day), completely whole and unsealed almost daily.
Would I be crazy asking to try either another 5ASA or at least a different generic? and would I ask my doctor or my pharmacist first? Still using sfRowasa every other night because any time I use it less frequently I start having mild symptoms again (mucus and minor bleeding). My gut feeling is that the Rowasa is really the only 5ASA that is working at the moment. Thanks for your input!

Start with your pharmacy and tell them you want a specific brand of mesalamines. As an example, I told RiteAid that I want the Ani Pharmaceutical Rowasa enemas, as they're so much easier to squeeze then those darn Perrigo ones are. Your doctor can also write a prescription for a specific formulation, like the Shire Generic.
