Bacteria will adapt to this really fast. When the previous new generation antibiotics came out in the 1980's. bacteria adapted to them within 10 generations. The industry was devastated and it's the main reason why there has not been a new class created until now.

The working theory is that due to polymerisation adding a synthetic component to this antibiotic, bacteria will not be able to as effectively form recombinant antigen signalling to cope with cell wall destruction. However, I think it'll likely be the opposite. Bacteria show impressive resistance to synthetic everything. In the hospital of Maryland 2 years ago they found MRSA living *inside* of concentrated chlorhexedine solution, which is what they use to disinfect all the wards. It's the natural substances that they can't adapt to.

Until modern medicine is willing to kowtow to herbal medicine, they will keep wasting billions on failing antibiotics. Nothing can replace plant medicines in this regard. For example... synthetic berberine saw resistance in 5 generations of e. coli, but none when exposed to the original berberine containing plant.

Nature knows how to deal with bacteria, we don't. But of course, you can't make billions of dollars off of pre-existing plants in the natural world.

Until the for-profit model goes away, medicine will continue to be mediocre. I'm seeing some doctors come around by at the very least combining antibiotics with herbs so that the delivery is much stronger, but these doctors are rare. Most still have their heads in the sand, and as a result millions of people die every year from treatable infections.
