Colitis & Joint Pains in Fingers

Hello,

I'm suffering with UC for last 13 years.
Currently I'm just taking Colozal 3/3 times a day and 0.5mg of Lexapro for anxiety.
Before last week I started feeling pain in my finger joints and swelling in palm and I can hardly move finger up and down. It stayed like that for 3 to 4 days and it went off all last week and since yesterday evening I started feeling the pain in only one of the finger. I'm not sure if it is related to my UC. It is in remission for almost 8 years. But I never stopped taking my medication all these years at the same dosage.
I'm bit concerned if it is anything to do with Arthritis sad.
Did any one of you experienced these kind of problems and any thoughts on what could be the reasons for this pain?

joint pains can accompany UC, but if you are in remission less likely.

you can get some joint pain or muscle ache form mesalamine, but usually not suddenly after years.

you could call in to your GI and ask. Likely they would send you to osteo or rheumatologist

about 25% of us get an arthritis (inflammation of the joints) as an extra-intestinal manifestation of having an UC. However, that usually presents as big joint pains (at hip joints, elbows, knees, or shoulders). Sometimes we can get a secondary autoimmune condition like Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Could be osteoarthritis or possibly trigger finger since you mentioned your palm was swollen as well.
While hand/ joint inflammation and pain can be associated with UC or autoimmune....look into other possibilities and push for some testing. A hand x-ray and blood tests to start.

My hands (and body) always ache, and I go through phases of individual joints and muscle swelling...but I do have repetitive strain injury, back and neck issues and joints with osteo.
