Hi
It’s been 5 months since I started taking meds.
I’m doing better. I’m hesitant to say I’m in remission because I needed to use enema again about 10 days ago. But it went away with only two days of enema.
Mostly I would have pain in left side and poop for like 4 times.
Last week I took pepto and I felt better. Does that mean my issue of pain is entirely separate cause? ( How do you even tell separate pains? I sure can’t)
I also stopped diary lactose free or not.
I can even eat sugar again.
I lost 16 lbs since June I think.
Not that I want to gain weight but do you stabilized weight in remission?

Glad you're doing better! I would not call 4 poops a day a remission, you still have a way to go but are at least on the right path. Yes, in a remission your weight should stabilize and you should be able to regain any lost weight.

I wouldn't spend too much time trying to figure out your pains. My personal experience has been that gas is the worst offender for hurting an irritated gut, so I avoid foods that cause me gas when I am flaring or feel like one is festering. For me, lactose is the worst. I've never been able to eat ice cream since UC.

Take care of yourself. Hopefully in a few weeks you'll be all fixed up.

What is the location extent of your UC and what meds exactly are you on?
The enemas aren't meant to be used sporadically.

@quincy: proctitis. He told me to use enema only when I need it and don’t need to if I’m fine.

The problem is that if you do nothing for the maintenance of remission, you are unlikely to stay "fine". Since you have proctitis you could probably get away with a suppository every second day or so to try to keep things quiet.

The doc is remiss in your treatment, worse yet....no regimen plan for what you should do.

Although, you've been here for a while and rectal med treatment would have been mentioned. Really, the ball is in your court to arm yourself with info and requests to your doctor....step up beyond what you're doing till now..

I take Balsalazide daily. I don’t know what else is there though.
I don’t do so well with probiotics.

What else is to use rectal enems and suppositories used as I described.

What happens with probiotics....and when did you take them?

Trying to target the left side, especially the rectum, with oral mesalamine is notoriously difficult. Enemas and suppositories are designed pretty much for that purpose.
