Hi guys
still struggling with this new drug. How long does it take to normally kick in and show results? I am on day 4 of 30mg and not much significant results and I really need this medication to work!

Mine took about a week for any results. Tapering is going slowly, too. Had to bump it back up once so far. But, I am MUCH better than I was before I started about a month ago.

I felt better the same day on 30mg. Sorry that doesn't help...

I wouldn't get discouraged at this point, reaction time can also depend on the severity of the flare. Be sure to eat when you take it & drink a full glass of water. Each of us metabolize medications differently.

30 mg may not be high enough. I have found that for me trying to go conservative doesn't work well and just prolongs the length of time I have to be on pred. I now know that I have to hit it hard and only taper when I start to see results.

Last time I tried to start at 30 I was on it for a couple weeks without any results, doc bumped up to 40 and still no results. Went to 60 and saw almost immediate improvement and I was able to start tapering after 1 week

Maybe give it til Monday and if no improvement at all call your doc about increasing the dose

When was the last time you had a stool test to check for c diff? If you have that pred is not going to help and could make things worse

That's the problem with starting at 30 mg. You don't know if that is high enough.

Have you seen a decrease in the number of BM's?

Its still may 4th day on 30mg no improvements. I think slighly less bowel moments but still abdominal pain, lots of BM atleast 8-9. Along with extreme body ache, joint and muscles. My last c.diff was negative came back in april.

You might respond to pred in days, a week or two weeks. It varies. If nothing in two weeks then ask about 40 or 60 mgs a day.
