Hi guys
So recently my ferritin level was 3 and hgb 8.7 I had the usual venofer infusion I take on monday. After that experiencing severe abdominal pain. Two days later I did another cbc test and my hbg was 8.5 and for the first time my MCHC was extremely low and my report had an exclamation mark! Has anyone experienced that?
I wanted to push back my second infusion at least for a week since I have a second opinion appointment with a hematologist in the Cleveland Clinic Ohio and see what they say to switch to which other type of iv iron. After that it'll take another week minium for the new iv iron to reach my doctors office where I live? I really dont want to take the venofer on monday due to the severe pain I deal with. But at the same time the MCHC report is scaring me a bit.
TIA

Hey dee,
It takes at least a couple of weeks for iron stores to be replenished after an iron infusion, and so the numbers won't reflect any improvement at all after two days.
Deffo go for ferinject instead!
good luck

Hi thank you! That does make sense. Will most likely be doing the ferinject.

Low MCHC in combination with low hemoglobin just means you have iron-deficiency anemia.
