Hey everyone, I have been suffering from especially bad nasal congestion from Stelara. My sinuses are blocked and I have almost constant post nasal drip. It's very thick. My GP prescribed a nasal spray with Ipratropium bromide but I'm concerned it might affect the gut. I am also wondering about
OTC cold meds like guaifenesin. Anybody have any idea if these should be avoided? My gut is finally settled down a bit and I'd hate to mess it up now.

My drs have me take MucinexDM for this problem. You need to drink a lot of water to thin the mucus too. I struggle with high blood pressure issues & my drs say it's safe to use. It works very well for many. It doesn't bother my gut at all. I also use a lot of saline nasal spray too.
I hope you get to feeling better.

A while back I was having an annoying bout of post-nasal drip in early AMs, which I mentioned during office visit to gastro, who subspecializes in IBD treatment. The advice I got there: try gargling with Robitussin DM for a few minutes then spit it out. I found it helpful in clearing out the drip for ca. 4 hours following. It can dry out the tongue a bit after spitting out so best to rinse mouth with cool water right away. / Old Hat (40 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking Colazal)

Most over the counter cold and flu treatments are fine for us. Just make sure they contain tylenol/acetaminophen and not an NSAID. Most are tylenol, like NyQuil and generics of it.
